Frome education consultation moves to next phase
Families and the wider community in Frome are being invited to take part in the next stage of consultation on potential changes to local education structures.
The initial phase of engagement, led by Somerset Council, saw strong participation from parents and carers. Many attended drop-in sessions, completed surveys and shared their views on possible changes. The feedback received has played an important role in shaping the proposals now being brought forward.
The process is now moving into a formal consultation phase, which will provide an opportunity to consider more detailed proposals, including the potential move to a two-tier education system in Frome.
The consultation will run from Monday 1 June 2026 to 5.00pm on Friday 10 July 2026, during which time families and members of the community are encouraged to review the full proposals and submit their views.
Opportunities to get involved
As part of this next phase, a series of in-person question and answer sessions will be held at Frome Town Hall, giving families the opportunity to hear directly from education representatives and ask questions about the proposals.
Sessions will take place on:
- Tuesday 9 June 2026 at 2:00pm, 4:00pm and 6:00pm
- Wednesday 17 June 2026 at 2:00pm, 4:00pm and 6:00pm
No booking is required to attend these sessions.

The proposals represent a significant potential change for children, families and staff, and all partners involved have committed to ensuring that the community remains informed and supported throughout the process.
Continuing engagement
The next phase builds directly on the contributions made by parents and carers during the initial consultation period. Their views have helped shape the current proposals, and continued engagement is being strongly encouraged to inform the final outcome.
