Bath and Wells Multi Academy Trust

New leadership team for Board of Trustees

We’re delighted to announce the appointment of Beverley Hobbs as Chair of the Board of Trustees, alongside Andy Donnell as Vice Chair. Both bring a wealth of experience, strategic insight, and a deep commitment to education and community.

Here is a little bit more about them:

Beverley Hobbs – Chair of Trustees

Beverley retired in 2023 following a distinguished career in education, including leadership as CEO of a multi-academy trust and headteacher of three secondary schools—most recently an outstanding Church of England academy in Berkshire. Her experience spans strategic planning, operational leadership, and governance across both primary and secondary phases.

Since stepping back from headship in 2019, Beverley has continued to serve in governance roles, including as chair of the education committee in another Oxfordshire-based trust. She also sits as a magistrate and plays an active role in her local church community, bringing compassion, clarity, and a deep understanding of human nature to all she does.

Her appointment as Chair marks a new chapter for BWMAT—one rooted in wisdom, collaboration, and a clear vision for the future.

Andy Donnell – Vice Chair of Trustees

Andy brings extensive experience from the corporate and charitable sectors, having served as CEO for EMEA at ABM, a leading facilities management provider. His award-winning strategic leadership helped double company growth, and his commitment to governance has extended into the charity sector, including roles with Samaritans and The Moving on Project.

Andy is passionate about youth development and vocational pathways, reflected in his nationally recognised JEEP programme, which encourages school-aged children to explore engineering and apprenticeships. His background in social policy, community service as a Parish Councillor, and love for mentoring the next generation make him a powerful advocate for inclusive education.

We are thrilled to welcome Beverley and Andy into their new leadership roles. Their combined experience, values, and vision will be instrumental in guiding our Trust family through its next chapter. Both bring a deep understanding of governance and a heartfelt commitment to children, staff, and communities. I look forward to working closely with them as we continue to grow, innovate, and serve with purpose.
