Message from CEO 11 June 2017

Dear All,

It has been fantastic to hear about exciting planning and innovative development work for 2017-18 underway in schools, across our hubs and within the support team over the last two weeks.  As a first step, our June Bulletin will include key dates for Head teachers Hub Meetings, Academy Leader Days and Safeguarding Update Sessions for 2017-18 alongside a wide range of development opportunities this month.  It will be available to all schools soon via your Hub Lead.  It is wonderful to see plans taking shape that are rooted in our Christian values and are highly ambitious for what our learners can achieve in 2017-18.

On Thursday this week, I and a group of CEOs from across the South West met with the Regional School’s Commissioner, Rebecca Clark, to discuss good practice in school improvement that has raised expectations of and outcomes for pupils in our Multi Academy Trusts.  We explored how these examples might be shared and developed more widely to support improved outcomes for all pupils across our region. It was good to be able to share the creative work you have developed in schools, across hubs and with our support team.

Meetings, training and development opportunities this week:

  • SENCOs
    Tuesday 13th June, Wells, 10:00 – 14:00
  • NQT+1
    Friday 16th June, Oakhill

On Tuesday 18th July, there will be a morning’s meeting for clergy who support the work of BWMAT schools.  It would be fantastic if as many clergy as possible could attend.  The meeting will include sharing how clergy are working with our schools and discussing how the BWMAT could support future plans and ideas clergy have for working with you and your schools in 2017-18.  I would be grateful if you could share this date with your clergy and contact Jo Walton if they are interested in being part of this exciting and important development work.  The meeting will take place at The Old Deanery and will be followed by an informal lunch.

Thank you all for everything you are doing at this busy time.  Thank you for the ways you are sharing your skills, your knowledge and your ideas with such commitment to support our pupils now and into the future.

Kind regards

Philip
