Message from CEO 19 June 2017
It has been lovely to receive so many updates on current developments, celebrations, pupils’ learning and future plans from across our Trust this week.
Thank you to Paula Goodchild from Cheddon Fitzpaine Church School for sharing this fantastic photograph of children at the annual Somerset Schools Folk Dance Festival in Wells on Saturday afternoon and to all staff, pupils and parents who supported the event. Paula said even though it was an extremely hot day, the children were utterly amazing.
I would also like to thank the staff, pupils, Head teacher and governors at Norton Fitzwarren Church School for the way they worked together and approached their Ofsted inspection this week. I will, of course, share further information about this once the outcome has been ratified.
I am very grateful to Bethan Foister, Head teacher at Oakhill Church School, for the following wonderful photograph of our highly valued leaders of the future – our NQTs+1 – who met last week for a development day on Learning Outside the Classroom and Forest School. This image shows delegates climbing Oakhill’s incredible 800 year old oak tree; the living embodiment of our ‘BWMAT tree’.
Meetings, training and development opportunities this week:
Tuesday 20th June, Churchfield 13:00 – 15:00
Over the last few weeks, representatives from our Trust, Worcester University and another South West Trust have been working together to plan a new ‘Leadership Development’ coaching-based programme. We are currently bidding to gain funding for this from the Strategic School Improvement Fund (SSIF). If our bid is successful, this innovative programme will be available to leaders from September 2017. I would like to thank all of those who are part of this team but particularly Julian Thompson, former BWMAT Director, for his support and hard work on this bid and for his on-going dedication to the values and development of our Trust.
Finally, thank you to Nicola Stoddart for taking time to share this thought-provoking prayer written by a Y2 pupil, in her own time, at Bishops Lydeard Church School.
It’s me Verity!
You are the God of our times.
You made the world with your own hands
You’re wonderful in every way
You make happiness in your own ways and Lord that’s what makes us happy
Lord Jesus you gave me the cross in my pocket to remind me that you rose from the dead and that reminder is for no-one but me
When I get tantrums you remind me to stop and be nice, you make me good in what I say and do.
Jesus you died on the cross for us and that makes me happy because all you do is care for us and that is why I love you
