Message from CEO 2nd April 2017

Dear All,

On Monday afternoon, Teresa and I visited the Leadership Team at St Mark’s Church School.  It was wonderful to see their positive approach and their determination to provide the best possible education for all their pupils.

After school, Rachel Rooke, who leads St Mark’s cookery club, invited Teresa and I to a three course meal prepared by children in the club for their parents and carers.  We were, of course, delighted to share the delicious meal that included Chicken Pie and Rocky Road!  Rachel’s support and encouragement for pupils ensured they, their parents and carers felt a real sense of pride in what they had achieved.  It was amazing.

On Thursday Georgina Spirrell, Teresa, Jo and I met Jenny Venning and incoming Head teacher Justin Philcox at Churchfield. Whenever I visit the school, I feel uplifted by the progress Churchfield is making and excited by their future plans to build further on this.

Interviews for Assistant Directors of Learning and Achievement took place over two days this week.  Thank you to Directors who supported the interview process.  I am looking forward to updating you further after Easter when the appointments have been ratified.

This week, as every week, there have been some challenging moments and decisions for leaders and staff – in schools and the central team.  Thank you for your skill, your care and your resilience; for the way you support each other to make the very best decisions for all pupils and their learning.

On Friday, the Easter break began for our Somerset schools, while North Somerset’s holiday commences on Friday.   Across our Trust, you all – staff in schools, leaders, directors, governors and members of the central team – give so much, every day, to support pupils’ learning in all of our school.  Thank you for the incredible things you do.  Thank you for the way you work, together, to reach to provide an outstanding education for every child in the Bath and Wells Multi Academy Trust. Whenever your holiday starts, I hope you all have a wonderful Easter and an enjoyable, restful break.

Kind regards

Philip
